I was born in the South and raised on my family’s farm in Carbon Hill, AL. My father, grandfather and uncles introduced me to hunting and fishing at a young age—and they taught me how to be a true sportsman. I had my first taste of the outdoor filming industry when I was 16 and appeared on a local television show called Fishing Alabama.

I’m the founder of StandFast Outdoors, a team of sportsmen (including my son Evan) and close friends who have been hunting together and filming our outdoor adventures for years. StandFast Outdoors is also a ministry to encourage and equip youth and adults alike to experience and develop a love of hunting and fishing. I’m enlisted in the Active Duty Army, with 21 years of service under my belt. I believe that God has given to us freely so that we might give to others. From tournament trail fishing to hunting squirrel, deer and more, I cherish the time I spend in God’s outdoors.

I’ve been a passionate hunter for the last 8 years. My weapon of choice is my PSE X-Force paired with a 3-blade Rampage. I’ve taken my two largest deer so far—a 157” twelve and a 139” ten—during the second week of November, so that’s my favorite time of year to be in the woods.

With my father, Al Atkins, I’m co-founder of StandFast Outdoors, a ministry in our church that gives people the tools and information they need to develop a love for hunting and fishing. We’re also a team of sportsmen and close friends who hunt together and video our experiences. I’m excited to join the Dead Ringer Pro-Staff team.

Growing up in rural southwestern Ohio, hunting and fishing captured my attention early on. I spent most (if not all) of my spare time in the outdoors, learning the patterns and behavior of whitetail deer. Whitetails were my primary focus for many years—until I was introduced to turkey hunting. That very first early morning gobbler that answered my calls ignited in me a new fire, and it deepened my love of hunting and the outdoors.

As I gained experience and knowledge, I had opportunities to mentor and encourage youth and fellow hunters. I now show my passion for hunting and the outdoors with my wife Sarah and fellow enthusiasts in a mentoring ministry. Through this ministry, I enjoy sharing my faith and my knowledge of the outdoors while encouraging the hunters of tomorrow.

Let’s start out by saying I have an amazing family. My wife (Amie) and our four wonderful children (Blake, Sadie, Sage and Easton).We all enjoy the outdoors! I’m just the average Joe that everybody knows from a small town. The difference is that I have the heart, passion and the obsession for the outdoors. I have been hunting for 16 years. For me the season never stops. From planting food plots to hanging tree stands, glassing our favorite fields looking for that mature deer. My beliefs in the ethics of hunting and high regard for safety in the woods is a key factor in this 100% Wild 100% Fair Chase hunting that we do. It’s the passion that keeps my family doing this year after year. We put GOD, FAMILY, and OUR COUNTRY first in our everyday walk of life. We Thank God for the blessings he has laid upon us every day. This is who we are!

Ever since I was born, hunting has been part my life. Matter of fact, the year after I was born, my dad had taken a Southern Ohio giant scoring 207 3/4. Between my father and his fathers passion of hunting, it is what shaped me into the hunter that I am today. I’ve always had a passion for hunting, but it never really kicked in until I was about 15. A friend of mine gave me a bow and I used to go out and shoot everyday. I eventually got to be pretty good, so I took my chances in the woods. When I was 16, I went in our woods behind the house and took a little basket rack 7 pointer with my bow, since then I was hooked! I didnt wanna use a gun again! There’s something about bow hunting that just thrives in me. I love the outdoors and have such a passion that I cant wait to pass that down to my kids like my father and grand father did for me. God’s blessed me with the oppurtunity to hunt and fish and I’m glad to be able to pass that down, not only to my kids, but other kids that we take hunting that may not have the same oppurtunities that I had growing up. It’s a great feeling and I’m excited for all the upcoming adventures that will come. STANDFAST!!

My name is Brian Backer I am a faithful servant of our Savior Jesus Christ! I am also a passionate outdoorsman! I was introduced to fishing since the day I could walk and hunting in 1983 when my Dad Karl Backer took me bow hunting with him for the first time! The memories I have in the field have never faded! I have my beautiful wife Angie and daughter DeLaina who hunt and fish with me when they can! I also have a son to be born this November 2nd 2015! God continues to bless our family! Sammy Joe Colburn, AKA “Possum”, grew up in Sweet Home Alabama. Killing his first deer at the age six years old set a fire in the heart of Possum that has never died. Being raised on his families farm, one generation away from where you grew and hunted ever thing you eat, Sammy’s father and family took him to the outdoors teaching him all about nature and how to hunt. Although those days on the farm growing are in the past, he will never forget what was instilled in him and how the woods where his play ground.
